Eulogy for Dorothy Gramer RIP November 26, 2013 In November 2013, the Lane Tech family lost a treasured member, Dorothy Gramer, a Lane Tech teacher of mathematics spanning six decades. She was an accomplished woman, a patient and resourceful teacher, and she had a delightful personality and smile. She was especially fond of the Class of 1960, because she regarded that as her first class. She was a very pretty woman and we all thought of her as 'the beautiful girl next door." Every year she had 6,000 boys in love with her. The two of us kept in touch with her for all these years. She always sent us Christmas cards and postcards from her vast travels. About twenty years ago we began referring to her as 'The Queen of Lane Technical High School". She was always addressed that way in phone calls we made to her and on letters, gift and postcards sent her way. A few years ago we created and sent to her a trophy with a goddess on top and the inscription: "Dorothy Gramer, Queen of Lane Technical High School." She let us know that she enjoyed her title very much and kept her trophy-statue on display in her living room and showed it to everyone who came to visit. In 2010 it was our great honor to escort her to the 50th anniversary of the Class of 1960. She left a memorable impression on both of us. Hail to the Queen!
