|What We Do|
The LTAA supports thousands of members, keeping them connected to Lane through personal visits, digital media, networking events, quarterly newsletters, social activities and reunion assistance.
The LTAA inventories and houses an extensive archival library of yearbooks, articles and artifacts pertaining to the history of Lane Tech from its beginning in 1908. Many items are available for viewing. The LTAA staff regularly consults with faculty, students, alumni and the community-at-large for research projects and questions, and assists in docent training for school tours. Lost class rings, yearbooks and on occasion, even fellow classmates are found through the use of the LTAA as a clearing house.
LTAA Teacher Innovation Grants are awarded annually to faculty applicants for various programs positively affecting nearly every student at Lane Tech. Since academic year 2009/2010 when the LTAA Grant Program began, $183,000.00 has been awarded for a range of programs including JROTC fine arts, mock trial, academic decathlon, robotics, sports teams, drama, classroom technology, lab equipment, music, and much more!
The LTAA was originally established by a group from the Class of 1940, as a scholarship funding organization. In 2015/16 a dozen students were awarded $111,000.00 including two $40,000.00 scholarships. More than $1,655,500 in scholarship money has been awarded through the LTAA since the organization was founded in 1985 and we will have four new scholarships in 2017!
The LTAA has a history of supporting special projects at Lane based on available funds and alignment with the vision and mission of the Association. The signature fundraising project for 2017 is the Sensory Room for the students attending the Special Education Program at Lane.
The LTAA also supports other Lane Tech community partner organizations with joint donations, sponsorships and participation in various events. Since academic year 2009/10, the LTAA has funded more than $450,000.00 in support of various special projects ranging from food to furniture, and technology to transportation.
